I am not stupid but it happens!
Hope all you bloggers are fine in your lives. I thought that I would ask for your help as don't know how to overcome it.

The problem is this: Sometimes I leave the house which is ok until I look into my handbag and I find that I have left the keys in the house on the peg in the kitchen!

And for the thousandth time as well, and me being an emotional person it makes me mad and what's worse is that I keep doing it. Other people do it but not loads of times!
I could ask my neighbour who has a spare key and doesn't mind giving it to me but I always am embarrassed to ask her, or I could ask Dad but that's worse, or my Auntie Sue, but wanting to be the independent person that I try to be, I want to look after my key myself but always ends up locking my self out.

How could I try to make sure I have my keys with me?

Suggestions welcome please, blog pals.

Incidently, if Damon is reading this how does he remember to take his keys?

Comments:
You can buy a doormat where it says all the things you have to remember to bring with you when you go out. Like you cellular, your wallet and of course you keys. Then you'll just have to hope you'll look down everytime you leave your home.

I hope you will solve your problem some day. And hopefully I was to some help.

Attach a 30 cm piece of elastic or ribbon to the strap of your bag (or to the zip you get on the pocket inside your bag).

Attach keys to ribbon either by tying onto keyring or the key itself.

This way my key is always attached to my bag.
All you have to do when you want to open the door is pull on the ribbon and your key should come out of the bag.
The ribbon is long enough that you don't need to take the keys off it to open the door!

Write the things you really have to remember on a piece of paper in clear, bold print (eg big letters and a dark colour) and stick it right next to the front door. Mine says "Keys, Glasses, Phone, Wallet".

It won't solve it but it should really help. Trying to make a habit of putting your keys back in your bag when you get in the front door would help, too.

I was going to suggest both the ribbon and the printed reminder sheet ideas ...

hope you weren't locked out for ages it was chucking it down yesterday! :-) i'm the same, listen to these wise ppl,....

Thanks for all your comments everyone, what a lot of good ideas, I like the idea of a doormat that says things you have to take, and I like the idea that anonymous gave, but I think I know who tha\t is, as I was talking about my blog to them not long before they commented!

You could have your lock changed for one that requires you to lock the door. That way you wouldn't be able to lock yourself out.
